Portland Pedal Power is now delivering food from the long running and much-loved food cart, A Taste of Greek. Dishing up great food and welcoming smiles, the owner Jota and his right-hand/manager/marketing strategist Rodrigo, have consistently been rated best gyro in town. Check it out: visitors and locals alike praise the 5-star Super Lamb Gyro like crazy on Yelp.

The secret is simple: the best quality ingredients prepared by hand and from scratch by two Brazilian guys with giant smiles. The friendly customer service is highly valued by regulars, so we recommend you stop by the next chance you get, or even better, have a Super Gyro delivered direct to your office. What better way to wow your coworkers than organizing the next office lunch with authentic and savory lamb gyros, crispy falafel, stuffed grapes leaves, and smoky baba ghannoug?

Greek food is always best in summer, something about the combination of flavorful meat or falafel topped with cool minty yogurt sauce, lemony hummus, and crisp salads.

Check out the menu online, our favorites include:

Gyros – The main event at A Taste of Greek, marinated chunks of lamb or chicken serviced in pita bread with tiziki sauce, onion, parsley, and loaded with fresh lettuce and tomatoes.

Chicken Plate – Grilled chicken with rice, greek salad, and tiziki sauce. Served with pita bread.

Baba Ghannoug w/pita – Grilled eggplant with garlic, lemon and tahini sauce. On of my favorites: smoky eggplant and lemon, so much yum.

Kafta Plate – Ground Lamb with rice, greek salad, and tiziki sauce. Served with pita bread.

Ready to treat yourself? Make sure you drop by our menu and see what strikes your fancy.

Celebrate Pride with a Rainbow Mimosa from Remedy!

PridePDXPride is here Portland. We at Portland Pedal Power love to take part in the annual Pride Parade. It’s a great chance to show pride in our LGBTQ community and rub elbows with the folks that help to make Portland unique.

This year, one of our favorite places, Remedy Wine Bar, will be opening early to fuel the parade marcher/goers with rainbow colored Mimosas and bagels!!  Remedy is known for its comfortable chairs and cozy living room vibe.

Located in a historical pharmacy that provided the entire western United States with cure-alls and other tinctures, the owners of Remedy wanted to make sure their wine bar would be a much needed “remedy” for all types of occasions and wine drinkers. A place for wine novices who want to know more, wine experts who want something different, and people who just want to enjoy a glass, Remedy is the perfect neighborhood wine bar.

4This year, Remedy is helping everyone celebrate Pride Week by offering mimosas and Bowery Bagels on location between 9AM and 12PM. Along with a delicious bagel and schmear, you will be able to enjoy Remedy’s Rainbow Mimosa, which includes OJ, Grapefruit, Mango, Guava, OJ, Lychee, Peach, Pineapple and Jalapeno. Or, if you’re feeling a little more subdued, enjoy a glass of sparkling wine instead.

So grab your rainbow flag and come down to Remedy during this coming Pride Parade! Great company, Bowery Bagels and Rainbow Mimosas? You can’t help but have a great time.

Enjoy Beer Week with Whole Foods in the Pearl!

BeerWeekBannerIn a city like Portland where craft beer reigns supreme, you have to imagine that dedicating a week to beer would be a pretty serious endeavor. After all, where do you even start planning that kind of week? And where do you go first to celebrate?

Rest easy, Portland. Whole Foods has Beer Week covered! Starting on June 12th and going until the 23rd, Whole Foods is dedicating the week at their Pearl District Location to the craft beers of Portland. This event will directly benefit Harpers Playground, and organization dedicated to building a better playground for kids and adults alike. Whole Foods will be hosting a number of events and invites the city to celebrate its unique blend of local flavors.

Hold up, you might think. There are craft breweries all over the place. Does Whole Foods really have the expertise and knowledge to dedicate a week to Portland Beers? The answer is a resounding Yes.

Kris McDowell of Beer Musings recently had a chance to take a look at the selection at Whole Foods, and was pleasantly surprised by the selection you could find in their Craft Beer refrigerator. In her blog post where she talks with Jason Jaime, the beer specialist at Whole Foods (Talk about a dream job!) Kris found that Whole Foods is “committed to making sure they have a great, current selection of new and seasonal beers.” In a city like Portland, it’s no wonder that would be a full time job. Take a look at Beer Musings from Portland to read more about Kris’ interview with Jason.

Check out a few of the events you will enjoy when you come celebrate with Whole Foods:

PORTLANDBeerWeek_CreativeOverview
Brewery Tour –
Ever wonder how something as delicious as Craft Beer is created? Whole Foods can show you how! During the tour, you will find out how so much goodness can be created from hops and barley.

Block Party – To really kick things off, Whole Foods will be blocking off a portion of NW Couch for a block party dedicated to Craft Beers! Come try some of the best local flavors, award winning labels, and perhaps a few new releases.

Special Release – To perfectly commemorate the occasion, Whole Foods will be unveiling a special label at the event. Be the first to see the unveiling during Beer Week.

Soiree Party – Enjoy the finer things in life with a Soiree! Whole Foods will have a selection of oysters, cheeses, and the finer things in life including some select craft beers to perfectly accentuate the flavors at this party. Black ties are completely optional.

Come have Some Breakfast on the Bridges with Bowery Bagels

On the last Friday of every month during the summer season, Shift hands out pastries coffee, fruit, and sometimes even biscuits and gravy to cycling commuters crossing the bridges. Some of the delicious items you will find at Mi Mero Mole

Next Tuesday is Cinco de Mayo! A great opportunity to celebrate Mexican culture with great music, dancing, and of course, delicious Mexican food!

In case history wasn’t your thing, Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican Army’s unlikely victory over French forces invading Mexico in 1862. It was a significant victory over the French, and inspired unity and pride throughout the country. Since that war, no European force has ever successfully invaded a country in the Americas.

So how will you celebrate this coming Cinco de Mayo? We have some fantastic Mexican restaurants you and your office can enjoy while celebrating:

Aprisa Cuisine – Built out of recycled shipping containers, Aprisa is the newest revolution in fine Mexican Cuisine. By creating high quality food with a chef’s flare, we put a spin on the idea of fast food.

Burrito Bar – A small family-owned restaurant, Burrito Bar provides fresh & healthy options for the community in Portland’s Pearl District for the past seven years.

Cha Cha Cha Taqueria – Serving authentic Mexican cuisine with an emphasis on organic and local ingredients, Cha Cha Cha Taqueria strives to be modern yet traditional with an eclectic mix of dishes.

Mi Mero Mole – In Mexico City, where urban life doesn’t always allow for a home-cooked meal, guisados are one of the most popular street foods. Mi Mero Mole serves traditional dishes from Mexico City made from scratch with tortillas made fresh using ground nixtamal.

Qdoba Mexican Grill – Qdoba is an artisanal Mexican kitchen where anyone can go to enjoy a fast, handcrafted meal prepared with fresh ingredients and innovative flavors.

Ready to celebrate? Que Bueno! Visit our menu and start planing how your office will enjoy Cinco de Mayo this coming Tuesday.

Helen Bernhard Bakery was established in 1924, beginning, as many bakeries did in those early days, by baking cakes for neighbors and friends. At the time, the Bernhard family lived in the house next to the present shop. Ben Bernhard’s father was a minister at Grace Lutheran Church and his mother, Helen, created the cake business as a hobby and an addition to the family’s income.

Most recently, the bakery was purchased by Mike and Kellie Snaadt.  They are inspired by the rich history and loving memories the bakery provides the community.  The bakery has seen many changes in it’s 90 years of existence, but amid all those changes, the home bakery feeling still remains.

And now, Helen Bernhard’s delivers with Portland Pedal Power! Take a look at our menu, and you’re going to find some delicious treats:

Coffee Cake and Coffee Cake Rings –  Made from scratch recipe Danish dough. We fill them with a variety of fruit flavors then bake them in a ring shape perfect for office meetings and parties.

Party includes icing and sprinkles, specialty are a more decadently topped cupcake with chocolates, fruits and drizzles, and our fancy include icing flowers or other decorations choices.

Butterhorns – Our traditional round morning Danish, mini style can be topped with custard or a variety of fruit toppings.

GQqOlNbv61savYSpecialty Cakes – Choice of Rich German Chocolate cake, Light Carrot cake, or decadent  White Chocolate cake.

Advertise with Style, like Bowery Bagels!

There’s nothing like a steady relationship. We wrote about our partnership with Bowery a few months ago, and find it still holds true today! Check out how we are a perfect match:

There’s something beautiful about symbiotic relationship. Whether it be the honeybee and the flower, the Clownfish and the Sea Anemone, or the Shark and Remora, partnerships between two parties can bring about some wonderful results. At Portland Pedal Power, we are very lucky to have quite a few partnerships that would even make a honeybee jealous.

Take for example our great relationship with Bowery Bagels! Bowery has been serving Portland since March of 2012, with with delicious bagels and schmears for sale at more than 80 retail locations. Once they opened their own storefront, Bowery reached out to PPP to fulfill their delivery needs and, as they say, the rest is history.

Kalé: The Ultimate Japanese Comfort Food in PDX

I’ll be honest, when I think “Japanese Food,” the first thing that comes to mind is sushi. But did you know sushi doesn’t come close to the most common food you would find in a Japanese home? Makoto Yoshino knew we were all missing out on one of the best meals Japan gets to enjoy, and set out to change that.

That’s why we are very happy to deliver for Kalé, a Portland Restaurant serving a traditional Japanese dish you are going to absolutely love! Check out their video to learn a little bit about Kalé:

Kalé is a Japanese comfort food, dating all the way back to the year 1863, where Hiizu Miyake discovered the dish during a trip to Europe. Because of this history, it has traditionally been considered a European dish. During the last 100 years, it has gained popularity in Japan that it is now considered a national dish, developing into many different forms.
