SCOOOORE! PPP Voted Best Delivery in Portland

Best of WinThe people have spoken! Portland Pedal Power was voted Best Delivery last week in the Willamette Week Best of Portland issue. We beat out services like Postmates, Delivery Dudes, and Caviar for the win. Just goes to show that Portlanders like to keep it local. We are more than a sustainable homegrown company, we deliver from only the best local vendors and we pride ourselves on excellent, responsive customer service. We’ve built the service from the ground up, constantly improving, since 2009. We’re a startup that never stops!

Our win caught the eye of local newscaster Keely Chalmers of KGW News and she called us up Thursday morning for a news segment that came out AWESOME! Check it out. Producers snapped a GoPro on one of our delivery bikes and caught some great footage of us zipping around town during a busy lunch rush.

KGW was particularly interested in our commitment to sustainable delivery, picking up on the fact that our bike deliveries save approximately 11 metric tons of C02 every year.

Just today we delivered about 700 meals to hungry locals, featuring big orders from vendor favorites such as Tamale Boy, Pacific Pie Company, Garden Bar, Cha! Cha! Cha!, and Aprisa Mexican Cuisine.

We are proud to be appreciated for our delivery services in one of the best cities for food in the US. We are gonna keep riding, keep dishing up the goods, and making the best delivery even better.

Thanks, Portland, for the love!

Vote for the Best!

Portland Pedal Power is an owner-run company, committed to strengthening our community by supporting local businesses. Since 2009, our fleet has grown to 14 delivery bikes and we are catering bigger and better lunches, fueling local restaurant sales, and promoting likeminded sponsors with a unique active advertising platform.

PPP is the only homegrown on-demand delivery in Portland that is run entirely by bike. We ride the streets everyday delivering lunch for 3 to 300.  We’ve worked hard to build strong relationships with the restaurants and markets we work with. We know what they can get you, how much time they’ll need, and how delicious it will be. We simplify lunch orders and special event ordering for over 100 corporate ordering accounts. This means our customers get the best possible service.

Delivering food by bike reduces congestion and C02 emissions on our busy downtown streets. Our commitment to sustainability has led us to further encourage our vendors to think differently about packaging, waste, and reuse. Our customers value our commitment to greener delivery, making us a valuable addition to their overall sustainability practices.

We deliver BEER! You have to vote for us!

If you’ve worked with us, you know that Portland Pedal Power is unlike any other delivery service you’ve used. Not only do we deliver food by bike, we deliver it fast and friendly. (I would argue we can move through the dense urban core much quicker than any gassed up vehicle circling for curbspace!) PPP is the only homegrown on-demand delivery that is run entirely by bike. Above all, we prioritize superior customer service. You can always get a PPP staffer on the phone.

We’ve worked hard to build strong relationships with the restaurants and markets we work with. We know what they can get you, how much time they’ll need, and how delicious it will be. Our riders are full-time and not contractors, we know the city and its yumminess firsthand.

Been a Little Bad? Give Back!

Capture 2If you’re looking for that special someone — to donate your money to — the Willamette Week Give!Guide is a great place to start. They’ve handpicked 143 of Portland’s most impactful nonprofits and put them all in one place, making it easy to browse categories and donate.

Willamette Week makes it a point to include a range of organizations in the categories of Animals, Arts, Community, Education, Environment, Social Action, Health & Wellness, and Youth. They also work to include both large and small organizations.

CaptureGiving through the Give!Guide offers incentives too, you’ll receive free and discounted products from your favorite local brands via the Chinook Book mobile app (I use this and there are A LOT of really good deals available). Portland area residents who give will receive thank you bags as well, while supplies last.

The Schlesinger Family Foundation is also posing a challenge to donors: nonprofits with the most individual donors 35 and under in each category will be awarded $1000. Get an up-to-the-minute count of each organization’s donors 35 and under here. Willamette Week realizes that if young people begin supporting non-profit organizations at a young age, even at smaller levels, they are likely to continue to give as they get older, and the amount of their support is likely to grow with their incomes.

You’ve been working hard all year, time to put some of that money back to work in the community! Donations are accepted through December 31st.

Kalé, which is a simple spiced stew consisting of meat, onions, carrots, tomatoes, and other vegetables and served with rice, was first introduced in Japan in the late 1800’s. The popularity of the dish grew throughout the years, as it became a staple at well-known restaurants and was added to the official cookbooks of the Japanese Imperial Army and Navy. Now, it’s so popular in Japan that it’s considered a national dish; one that the average person eats 86 times per year!
