FILMED BY BIKE – April 15-17, 2011

Portland Pedal Power is proud to promote Filmed by Bike, the fabulously creative event that always sells out.

Bikes and film unite on the silver screen for the 9th annual Filmed by Bike, a film festival of bike-themed movies from around the world that takes place at the Clinton Street Theater April 15-17.

Advance tickets are on sale now. Tickets will also be for sale at the door for all shows though they will go fast once the box office opens; advance tickets are highly recommended.

New this year, Filmed by Bike is offering a festival pass that grants unlimited entry to the movies and includes a free compilation DVD of festival favorites. It’s a great way to indulge in a rare collection of movies all weekend long.

Filmed by Bike specializes in celebrating very short movies – their limit is 8 minutes in length.  The 40 jury-selected movies are a mix of intriguing films from all genres including animated pieces, love stories, documentaries, street films, music videos, dramas and plenty of humor. The movies play across four unique programs all weekend long with three showings every night. 3,000 attendees are expected.

Highlights include “Training Wheels”, a documentary about a hilarious self-reflective 21-year-old learning to ride a bike for the first time, and the LCD Soundsystem remake video featuring Portland bikers tall bike jousting and looking hot.

The New Belgium Opening Night Street Party is Friday, April 15 with a free beer garden, DJ beyondadoubt, bike parking by Division 45, a Speed Raffle presented by Sock Dreams and entertainment all night long in the middle of Clinton Street.  The beer garden is open from 5:30-11pm.
