December 26, 2011 Portland’s LGBTQ community suffered the loss of a valuable publication and resource as they were forced to say good-bye to Just Out.  The loss of Just Out left “ A big empty void”(Daniel Borgen) in the LGBTQ community, one that would prove difficult to fill.  Yet like the saying goes, “when one door closes, another opens.”  Soon after Just Out’s demise, Melanie Davis, owner of Brilliant Media and publisher-owner of El’ Hispanic News announced plans to start a new monthly publication.  In an interview with Byron Beck last month she stated that, “While being gay may no longer be news- it is still imperative for the LGBTQ community to have a trusted media source.”  This Thursday, February 16th from 5pm – 7pm at the Jupiter Hotel, the other door will bust wide open as we celebrate the launch of the new LGBTQ publication for the Northwest, PQ Monthly!

“My personal commitment, and the commitment from the team, is that every letter and color in the LGBTQ community is equally represented.” – Melanie Davis

PQ is stepping up in a big way to fill the gap in the lives of the LGBTQ community and Portland Pedal Power will be standing right at their side.  We are proud to be the distributors of PQ’s monthly publication to over 100 locations in the downtown, inner SE, and NW areas of Portland.  PQ Monthly, much like it’s predecessor, will be a free publication available to all on newsstands next to Willamette Weekly and The Portland Mercury.  As well as being a free print publication, PQ has already begun building a strong social media presence on Facebook and will be available to  all readers through their website at www.pqmonthly.com.

So come join us, and the rest of the LGBTQ community on Thursday February 16, and take that first step toward filling that big void in your lives with the first edition of PQ Monthly!
