Of all the holidays throughout the year, 4th of July is perhaps one of our favorites. This year especially since we have a beautiful sunny day in which we can celebrate all things ‘Murica! BBQs in the park, hamburgers, hotdogs (or in Portland’s case Tofu Burgers and Vege-dogs), and above all, BEER, lots and lots of beer! All things aside, no matter what you eat or drink, the 4th of July is a great time for family and friends to gather and realize just how good we really have it.
We here at Portland Pedal Power would like to wish you all a happy and SAFE 4th of July. I put emphasis on safe because of the amount of beer consumption and fireworks whizzing around your head, not to mention the number of thumbs and fingers blown off this time of the year by those who are a bit more… experimental with their fireworks displays. We encourage you that if you’re driving this year, please leave the keys with a friend if you drink. For all of you bicyclists, be sure you have on your helmets and lights this year as well as all reflective materials. Not all drivers are awesome enough to read our blog and may choose to drink and drive, and God forbid you happen to be on the same road. So ride with caution this year and lets reduce the injury rates!
