Bowls of the Gods from Kure Juice Bar. Heavenly!

You’re craving summer eats and we’ve got ’em! We deliver and cater from the best local spots, here’s a quick run down of some of our faves:

For a healthy cool pickup, order the aptly named and absolutely craveable Bowl of the Gods from Kure Juice Bar, along with any of their fresh juices or smoothies. For snacky meetings and events, we’ll bring you and your crew lush crudité trays and lunch platters from World FoodsZupans, or Green Zebra Grocery.

Choose from healthy fresh salads from Garden Bar or Súpa Sustainable Urban Deli, or Mediterranean fare from HabibiAybla Mediterranean Grill, and Wolf & Bear’s. For savory and sweet pies and my favorite kale slaw around, check out the awesome menu at Pacific Pie Company.

Fresh crudité trays from Zupans

If you’re in the mood for heartier fare, big meaty sandwiches from Charlie’s Deli never fail to satisfy. In Hawaii it is always summer so order mouth watering Kalua Pig plates from Ate-oh-Ate.

Get on the bowl bandwagon and order bowls of fresh goodness from Whole Bowl, Café Yumm! or Cha! Cha! Cha! As far as fresh and addictive goes, we are always craving the perfectly cooked chicken and rice with that ginger sauce from Nong’s Khao Man Gai. You know THAT ginger sauce. Pretty sure I’d like to pour that over everything I eat, forever.

Of course, it wouldn’t be summer without homemade local ice cream! Grab some ice cream sammies or specialty flavor tubs from Ruby Jewel.

Seize the summer and get it delivered by bike!

We’re Hitting the Streets with A Taste of Greek!

Portland Pedal Power is now delivering food from the long running and much-loved food cart, A Taste of Greek. Dishing up great food and welcoming smiles, the owner Jota and his right-hand/manager/marketing strategist Rodrigo, have consistently been rated best gyro in town. Check it out: visitors and locals alike praise the 5-star Super Lamb Gyro like crazy on Yelp.

The secret is simple: the best quality ingredients prepared by hand and from scratch by two Brazilian guys with giant smiles. The friendly customer service is highly valued by regulars, so we recommend you stop by the next chance you get, or even better, have a Super Gyro delivered direct to your office. What better way to wow your coworkers than organizing the next office lunch with authentic and savory lamb gyros, crispy falafel, stuffed grapes leaves, and smoky baba ghannoug?

Greek food is always best in summer, something about the combination of flavorful meat or falafel topped with cool minty yogurt sauce, lemony hummus, and crisp salads.

Check out the menu online, our favorites include:

Gyros – The main event at A Taste of Greek, marinated chunks of lamb or chicken serviced in pita bread with tiziki sauce, onion, parsley, and loaded with fresh lettuce and tomatoes.

Chicken Plate – Grilled chicken with rice, greek salad, and tiziki sauce. Served with pita bread.

Baba Ghannoug w/pita – Grilled eggplant with garlic, lemon and tahini sauce. On of my favorites: smoky eggplant and lemon, so much yum.

Kafta Plate – Ground Lamb with rice, greek salad, and tiziki sauce. Served with pita bread.

Ready to treat yourself? Make sure you drop by our menu and see what strikes your fancy.

Aybla Grill – Bringing You the Flavors of the Mediterranean

Nothing hits the spot quite like good Mediterranean food, especially when prepared by someone who knows what they’re doing. That’s why Portland Pedal Power can’t get enough of Aybla Mediterranean Grill or its head chef, Saied Samaiel.

Saied was born in Syria, and trained on the Greek island of Crete. Saied spent ten years perfecting his work before coming to Portland to offer his authentic Mediterranean cooking.

Aybla first hit the Portland food cart scene with a cart at the SW 10th & Alder pod in 2004. Since then, Saied has expanded his business to include four food carts and a mobile food truck which are all supported by Aybla’s brand new commercial kitchen located in the inner Southeast.

In addition to their many locations, Portland Pedal Power also offers delivery for Aybla, meaning you can have this delicious cuisine delivered right to your doorstep! Check out some of the meals you can find on our menu:

lThe Gyro! – Grilled lamb or chicken served in a Greek pita with tzatziki, onion, parsley & tomato. An instant classic!

Grilled skewers of ground lamb served in Greek pita bread with lettuce, parsley, onion & tomato.

The Super Falafel – Ground garbanzo beans mixed with onion, coriander, parsley, & spices, quickly deep-fried and wrapped in a large Greek pita with hummus, tahini sauce, lettuce, & tomato.

The Mediterranean Plate – Mediterranean Plate Lamb, Chicken or Kafta Kabob grilled over Syrian rice (uniquely flavored w/roasted wheat berries), with tzatziki, parsley & tomato served with Greek pita bread.

I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to get hungry. Check out our menu to start planning your lunch now, and we’ll get you set up with something delicious!

Taste the Mediterranean at Tangier!

There’s nothing like great Moroccan and Mediterranean food. Few genres of flavor offer the same kind of complex tastes and culture that comes with each meal. As luck would have it, Portland is home to some great locations where you can experience the fine edible art from the Mediterranean, and none compare to what Tangier creates in their kitchen!

Tangier is a warm and welcoming family restaurant conveniently located in downtown Portland, quite close to the waterfront. When you show up, you will likely notice Tangier has a casually elegant atmosphere, catering to the exquisitely prepared cuisine that will enhance any dining or celebration experience.

Tangier features an extensive menu, much of which is vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free. Take a look at a few of the choices you will want to order from our website:

Vegetarian Mezza – Falafel, humus, tabouli, tatziki, spinach pie, zattar pizza, baba ghannouj & veggie grape leaves.

Tabouli Salad – Finely chopped fresh parsley mixed with mint, green onion, tomato, bulgar, lemon juice & olive oil.

Aybla Mediterranean Grill

Aybla FalafelThis is the third in a series of interviews giving an in-depth look at the restaurants that your friendly Portland Pedal Power riders frequent as they dash around town making lunch deliveries. Check out the previous interviews with Aaron from Picnic House and Addy from Addy’s Sandwich Bar.

We recently caught up with Saied Samaiel, owner and head chef of Aybla Mediterranean Grill. Aybla first hit the Portland food cart scene with a cart at the SW 10th & Alder pod in 2004. Since then, Saied has expanded his business to include four food carts and a mobile food truck which are all supported by Aybla’s brand new commercial kitchen located in the inner Southeast. And if you don’t have time to go out for lunch, your friendly riders at Portland Pedal Power will deliver your delicious gyros and falafel right to your desk.

But don’t just take our word for it. Check out what Saied has to say about all of his amazing food, as well as the true pronunciation of Aybla and where the name comes from.
