Love is Love and Pride is this Weekend

6-13-Pride_27_idmc0fThere are a lot of events coming up this weekend the most notable of which is the Portland Pride festival. PPP participates every year and there will be several of us riding in the parade this year on the big bikes. As always, we are super excited to be part of it with our partners GayPDX, Portland’s Gay Directory.

After the horrific tragedy of the attack in Orlando, it is more important than ever for LGBTQ community and allies to get out and be together showing support, love, and pride for the community. We hope you all will join us.

You can view many pride related events on the Pride Northwest site, but here are some key events coming up: Pre-Pride Vigil for the victims in Orlando at the Q Center tomorrow night (Thursday, June 16), Trans March (Friday, June 17), Portland Dyke March (Friday, June 17), Saturday festival mainstage performances, Sunday Pride Parade 11am-1pm.

See you there!

Celebrate Pride with a Rainbow Mimosa from Remedy!

PridePDXPride is here Portland. We at Portland Pedal Power love to take part in the annual Pride Parade. It’s a great chance to show pride in our LGBTQ community and rub elbows with the folks that help to make Portland unique.

This year, one of our favorite places, Remedy Wine Bar, will be opening early to fuel the parade marcher/goers with rainbow colored Mimosas and bagels!!  Remedy is known for its comfortable chairs and cozy living room vibe.

Located in a historical pharmacy that provided the entire western United States with cure-alls and other tinctures, the owners of Remedy wanted to make sure their wine bar would be a much needed “remedy” for all types of occasions and wine drinkers. A place for wine novices who want to know more, wine experts who want something different, and people who just want to enjoy a glass, Remedy is the perfect neighborhood wine bar.

4This year, Remedy is helping everyone celebrate Pride Week by offering mimosas and Bowery Bagels on location between 9AM and 12PM. Along with a delicious bagel and schmear, you will be able to enjoy Remedy’s Rainbow Mimosa, which includes OJ, Grapefruit, Mango, Guava, OJ, Lychee, Peach, Pineapple and Jalapeno. Or, if you’re feeling a little more subdued, enjoy a glass of sparkling wine instead.

So grab your rainbow flag and come down to Remedy during this coming Pride Parade! Great company, Bowery Bagels and Rainbow Mimosas? You can’t help but have a great time.

Pride Parade 2013

PPP’s newest rider & photographer/videographer Tim Wildgoose took part in the Pride Parade in Old Town last weekend. Here’s what he had to say about the event:

Pride ParadeLast weekend, Portland Pedal Power Founder and Co-Owner Ken Wetherell and I went out with our custom Pyxis enclosures and joined the Portland Gay Yellow Pages float for the Pride Parade through Old Town Portland.

First worthy mention is that the turn out was amazing. The entire route was so dense with on-lookers and supporters I had no idea what to do with all the attention. Good thing Scott from PDXGYP gave us squirt guns. It was funny how surprised people were when they were squirted with water from little plastic guns, totally unexpected to get wet when its not coming from the skies in Portland. Our squirt guns definitely brought about a ton of smiles and made for amusing interactions with the crowd.
