Delivery from Helen Bernhard’s Bakery

logoThere’s nothing like fresh baked goods right out of the oven. Whether it’s a freshly baked cookie, a hand-decorated cake, or delicious butterhorn, there are few better ways to start the day off. That’s why we are very excited to be delivering for Helen Bernhard Bakery!

Helen Bernhard Bakery was established in 1924, beginning, as many bakeries did in those early days, by baking cakes for neighbors and friends. At the time, the Bernhard family lived in the house next to the present shop. Ben Bernhard’s father was a minister at Grace Lutheran Church and his mother, Helen, created the cake business as a hobby and an addition to the family’s income.

Most recently, the bakery was purchased by Mike and Kellie Snaadt.  They are inspired by the rich history and loving memories the bakery provides the community.  The bakery has seen many changes in it’s 90 years of existence, but amid all those changes, the home bakery feeling still remains.

And now, Helen Bernhard’s delivers with Portland Pedal Power! Take a look at our menu, and you’re going to find some delicious treats:

Coffee Cake and Coffee Cake Rings –  Made from scratch recipe Danish dough. We fill them with a variety of fruit flavors then bake them in a ring shape perfect for office meetings and parties.

Cup Cakes – Available in white, chocolate, pink champagne and red velvet. We offer 3 levels of decoration depending on the type of event. Party includes icing and sprinkles, specialty are a more decadently topped cupcake with chocolates, fruits and drizzles, and our fancy include icing flowers or other decorations choices.

Butterhorns – Our traditional round morning Danish, mini style can be topped with custard or a variety of fruit toppings.

Granted, PDX isn’t going through the winter extravaganza the rest of the country goes through, but that doesn’t mean it’s not cold out.

Gluten Free GEM Bakery specializes in pastries and desserts that featuring strict gluten-free ingredients. The bakery also accommodates vegan diets, dairy free lifestyles, and most common food allergies, all while keeping a delicious, hand crafted taste unique to the bakery.

Portland Bagelworks offers freshly baked and handcrafted daily with local, fresh ingredients and have a delicious exterior that is scored for better crust and more toppings. Bagelworks strives to make bagels that are Portland Style, using locally sourced ingredients you can only find in our corner of the world.

Delicious Donuts creates everything from burritos to bagels to, of course, donuts. The founder of Delicious Donuts, Boun, has been fine tuning his creative process for the last decade, creating only the best of bear claws, the most appealing apple fritters, and the most savory cinnamon rolls.

Mmmm… Donuts!

I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking for another excuse to enjoy a donut. Now we have a reason, because this coming Friday is National Donut Day!

In case you aren’t familiar with the national holiday celebrating these tasty toroids, Donut Day was started by the Salvation Army in 1938, to honor the men and women who served donuts to soldiers during the First World War. In an effort to provide freshly baked goods for servicemen, the Salvation Army opened up huts across France, offering pie, coffee, and most importantly, donuts. Since then, Donut Day is celebrated on the first Friday of June.

So make sure you do your civic duty and enjoy a donut this Friday! To help us with our patriotic task, Delicious Donuts is planning on baking raised glazed donuts measuring twelve inches(!!!), with National Donut Day displayed across the top like their breakfast donuts, pictured here.

For the event, we have two sizes you can choose from: the manageable 6″ for $5, of the massive 12″ for $8. Mix it up a little with frostings like Chocolate, Maple, Vanilla, or keep it simple with Glaze. Toppings include Sprinkles, Coconut, Peanuts, or Crumbs. Mix and match to make your ideal donut!

You can also enjoy some of the other treats available through Delicious Donuts, like their Breakfast Sandwich, Burrito, or Bagels. Order a mixed dozen and get a little variety in your life.
