Enjoy Beer Week with Whole Foods in the Pearl!

BeerWeekBannerIn a city like Portland where craft beer reigns supreme, you have to imagine that dedicating a week to beer would be a pretty serious endeavor. After all, where do you even start planning that kind of week? And where do you go first to celebrate?

Rest easy, Portland. Whole Foods has Beer Week covered! Starting on June 12th and going until the 23rd, Whole Foods is dedicating the week at their Pearl District Location to the craft beers of Portland. This event will directly benefit Harpers Playground, and organization dedicated to building a better playground for kids and adults alike. Whole Foods will be hosting a number of events and invites the city to celebrate its unique blend of local flavors.

Hold up, you might think. There are craft breweries all over the place. Does Whole Foods really have the expertise and knowledge to dedicate a week to Portland Beers? The answer is a resounding Yes.

Kris McDowell of Beer Musings recently had a chance to take a look at the selection at Whole Foods, and was pleasantly surprised by the selection you could find in their Craft Beer refrigerator. In her blog post where she talks with Jason Jaime, the beer specialist at Whole Foods (Talk about a dream job!) Kris found that Whole Foods is “committed to making sure they have a great, current selection of new and seasonal beers.” In a city like Portland, it’s no wonder that would be a full time job. Take a look at Beer Musings from Portland to read more about Kris’ interview with Jason.

Check out a few of the events you will enjoy when you come celebrate with Whole Foods:

Let Whole Foods Cater your Easter and Passover!

10979638_1388222698165628_2128276819_nEaster and Passover: Two great holidays which require a LOT of preparation in the kitchen. The family is coming over, Uncle Leo insists you have asparagus on the table, and Grandpa Joe absolutely must  have his brisket. And did you remember to get enough eggs to hide in the backyard?

Lots of plans, and very little time to get everything in order. So why not remove one of the most stressful parts about planning for the holidays? Instead of stressing over the menu, let Whole Foods take care of the meal for you!

Whole Foods Marketplace in the Pearl is offering a special Easter and Passover menu special for the week leading up to the holidays. Now, you can order a special dinner for four, making sure both Uncle Leo and Grandpa Joe get what they want when everyone sits at the table. Take a look at some of the catering options you will find on Whole Foods’ Catering Menu:

Holiday Dinner with Ham – Enjoy a delicious ham dinner for Easter, which is completed with Creamer Potatoes with Caramelized Leeks, Orzo Pasta Salad with Spring Peas, and Asparagus Salad with Julienne Vegetables.

Lamb is raised with no animal by-products in feed, no added growth hormones and no antibiotics. Completed with Creamer Potatoes with Caramelized Leeks, Orzo Pasta Salad with Spring Peas, and Asparagus Salad with Julienne Vegetables.

Holiday Dinner with Sous-Vide Pork – Enjoy a tender sous-vide pork dinner with Creamer Potatoes with Caramelized Leeks, Orzo Pasta Salad with Spring Peas, and Asparagus Salad with Julienne Vegetables.

Whole Trade Roses from Whole Foods!

WFM_S-Upper_VdayAd

Roses: The tried and true way of telling that significant other that they mean the world to you. Other flowers just don’t seem to cut it, and certainly don’t send the right message (take it from me, a handful of dandelions stopped being cute when you pass the age of 9)

But at the same time, everyone does roses, right? What kind of message are you sending with wilting, drab flowers you grabbed at the last minute from the drug store?

Whole Foods and Portland Pedal Power are teaming up to bring you something completely unique for this coming Valentines Day. You can order two dozen Whole Trade Roses to be delivered in the Downtown Portland area this coming February 13th and 14th. (Valentines Day!)

So what are Whole Trade roses? The Whole Trade® Guarantee seal means these flowers meet specific criteria, including:

  • Meets Whole Foods Product Quality Standards
  • Provides more money to producers
  • Ensures better wages and working conditions for workers
  • Cares for the environment
  • Donates 1% of sales to Whole Planet Foundation®

This isn’t just empty bragging rights, either. Whole Trade products also give back to the communities they come from. Thanks to the Whole Trade® Guarantee, a “social premium” amount is paid for every case of flowers, supporting community projects in Ecuador, Colombia and Costa Rica. Take a look at the positive impact yourself:

Stick to your Resolutions! Whole Foods can Help!

10881765_829807827058222_477619493_n“Week 3 out of 52: I find my willpower to be weakening. All this healthy food is taxing my taste buds, and I find the junk food in my pantry is beginning to talk to me, calling my name. I might not make it through my 2015 resolution of staying healthy, and it’s only January. Tell the kale it wasn’t personal.”

Ok, so maybe we’re not so dramatic, but you have to admit those resolutions that looked so good at the beginning of the year might be starting to get a little stale already. Somehow, we always forget that healthy eating also means less of the bread covered appetizers and more collard greens.

That being said, if you’re finding yourself eating the same kale salad over and over again, you might be doing healthy food wrong. Just because you’re eating healthier doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to enjoy your meal!

That’s why we highly recommend you check out Whole Foods and their online ordering menu. Whole Foods makes it easy to get wholesome, organic food straight to your door, without the issue of trying to avoid the snack-food aisle. You can grab sides and salads like their Spinach Orzo Salad, or go on a full on picnic with their Specialty Wrap Box.

Have a party coming up? While it might be a good invitation to slack from your healthy goals, fear not! Whole Foods offers fresh alternatives to the typical greasy potato chips that usually graces your coffee table, like their Fresh Fruit Platter, Tea Sandwiches, or their Petite Baguette Sandwich Crate. The best part, aside from being healthy? They taste fantastic!

So don’t give up on your resolutions, and don’t get burned out on the same bowl of greens day in and out! Whole Foods can help make your resolutions that much easier to stick to!

Happy New Year! Plan your Resolutions Now!

Optimized-edited_WFBikeWith the New Year comes New Year’s Resolutions which usually means buying some new gym clothes, setting up a budget, and throwing away sugary foods.

One that always seems to evade our grasp is the resolution to eat right. We always start off the year with the best intentions, like buying more kale and throwing out the peanut butter cookies.

But by January 15th, we seem to have conveniently forgotten the greenery in the fridge and have started foraging for junk food in the pantry.

Fear not, citizen! There’s a new way to keep yourself loyal to your best intentions. Whole Foods makes it easy to follow through with your resolutions, offering healthy alternatives through their optimized online menu. Whole Foods is filled to the brim with healthy alternatives that will help you stay healthy, without forcing yourself to give up flavors you love.

Whether you’re a vegetarian, a carnivore, a vegan, an organic foods enthusiast, or just someone who wants to try something new this week, Whole Foods can cater to your every need. Check out their menu, and you will find anything from appetizers to allegro coffee to whole meals and entrees laid out for your ease of use. Because at the end of the day, you can do it all yourself. But you don’t have to.

Best of all, we can drop it off at your doorstep, meaning you have more time to use those gym clothes and jump on the cycle machine.

Check out the Whole Foods Online Menu to start planning your resolutions!

Let Whole Foods do the Prep Work!

Optimized-edited_WFBikePlanning for the holidays can induce a lot of stress. You have to get the decorations up, clean the house, plan the trip, brace yourself for relatives… and on top of that, you have to have a hot meal ready to go.

It all stacks up on itself, really. Who has time to enjoy the eggnog?

While we can’t remove the stress that comes with the in-laws, we can offer hot, delicious holiday foods fresh from the oven. Whole Foods is optimizing their holiday menu, ensuring that while you can do all of the prep work yourself, you don’t have to. Whole Foods has created a menu catering to your every need, whether you’re a carnivore, an herbivore, or somewhere in between.

If you go for a more traditional holiday meal, try one of the traditional Holiday Dinners, including a fully cooked Diestel Turkey, Herb Stuffing, Fresh Green Beans, Turkey Gravy, and Dinner rolls.

More of a Tofurky kind of person? No problem! Go Vegan with a Wild Rice Cranberry Fig Roast, Acorn Squash, Mushroom Gravy, and Vegan Pumpkin Pie.

Whole Foods also offers salads, breads, and other assorted side dishes to perfectly accentuate your ideal holiday sit-down.

These meals can cater to 8 people, though if you’re looking for something more intimate, Whole Foods also offers the intimate holiday dinner, serving 4.

No matter how you choose to celebrate, Whole Foods will make sure it’s delicious.
